Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. – A strategy to explain the secret of its stages

Patanjali Yoga Sutra is a terse statement of a truth in Sanskrit literature. It consists of 195 basic guidelines for spiritual enlightenment. It is still valid for three thousand years. It is a philosophy not a religion. Yoga accepts all religions and believers without tilt. This yoga explains how the collective consciousness is achieved through self-realization of internal autonomy. Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is not opposed to any religion or other technical understanding and experience of being inside.

The Yoga of Patanjali, it is love and the pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline. He studied the nature, causes or principles of reality of the human being based on logical reasoning rather than any religious belief. It concerns the secret of metaphysics of mind and its thoughts and consciousness and how to become free of meaning and united with his inner self. Yoga postures are merely its first stage.

It defines God (Ishwara) is actually the state of the Ultimate Reality, a state of collective consciousness of all living beings.. Yoga Sutra of Patanjali does not defend a God personified in various forms and names of different religions.

It focuses more on self-realization that the perception of any god. The practice of yoga supports basic moral rights contained in the Koran, the holy book of Islam, the Christian Bible, Gita of Hinduism such as compassion, humility, forgiveness, authenticity etc. It also supports the basic practice of self-disciple, like contentment, a sense of training and inner exploration through meditation. It also supports the basis of meditation in Buddhism.

The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is regarded as the basic text on the system of yoga postures, breathing and yoga meditation, yoga. This is a guide to good living life with any path of life. It does not define yoga postures, breathing and meditation and yoga allows you to research what is best in your mind.

Any fixed posture while sitting or standing, in which you are comfortable taking your mind is ok. Many yoga postures commercially available on the Internet have no reference in Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. Yoga Sutra wants perfection of breathing meditation incoming and out coming and resounding. To achieve this perfection, any breathing exercise like you, is ok.

Yoga Sutra of Patanjali gives very practical stage by stage meditation, since the study of thought, freedom from negative thoughts and positive thoughts and, ultimately, the process of thought itself. To this end, secret guidance is available from it and strategy from good Yoga book. Onward freedom from selfishness and to witness and absorb into the consciousness of it comes to those who have faith in him and continue to practice until he becomes impulsive.

Patanjali Yoga is similar to Buddhism and to support each other. Yoga Sutra of Patanjali eight steps from beginning to end. Perfection of yoga on the first stage, gives clues about the practice of yoga on the stages onwards.

The first step is to improve social behavior, how you treat others and the world around you. Five moral principles are given to practice. Second stage of yoga is a discipline on matters of meaning. Five principles of self-control are given for practice. Before taking on the mental yoga, the practice of posture convenient to obtain the cooperation of the physical body is explained. Any fixed posture, where you can sit comfortably and attentively for a long contemplation is permitted. In the fourth stage, yoga is practiced breath to complete the first three stages, relying on the respiration of the latent energy.

In fifth stage onwards, yoga posture comes itself, requirement of practice ends. In the fifth stage, the practice of withdrawing the senses, it follows meditation where the invocation of conscience on the subject or object is like practice. In the last stage, when the mind is completely purified, the practice of the dissolution of consciousness about self-realization of internal autonomy or uniqueness of the interior is underway.

Here, you experience self-realization and consciousness and the universe are one. This experience is unique and happiness can not be expressed in words. All experiments in the States earlier by the followers of yoga are only perceptions, but feels like a reality.

Immerse Yourself in the Splendor of Yoga and Meditation

It dates back to 5000 years ago, some Vedic saints thought of a path of physical discipline which will simultaneously initiate their spiritual growth. Sages from that Indus Valley civilization discovered a way or process which will ‘yuj’ human mind, body and soul in a balanced way. The Sanskrit word ‘yuj’ means to unite or to rejoin. This word yuj has been evolved to Yoga. Thus, yoga is the way of uniting the finite jiva or human self with the Brahman or the eternal divine self. Brahman or God is a spiritual and impartial entity that coexists everywhere with us in this mundane world of reality. There are five core principles of yoga which help an individual to attain that higher level of spirituality where one can merge with that divine body. These five principles are Asanas (yoga poses), Pranayama (breathing exercises), Shavasana (proper relaxation), Sattvic aahar (vegetarian diet) and Dhyana (meditation). So, meditation is one of the basic five principles of yoga which is practiced to attain a higher level of mindfulness. Both yoga and meditation are considered as art, art of living a blissful life. Yoga is the way of getting a grip over one’s own mind, body and soul. Whereas, meditation is just a constant observation of mind by focusing at a single point in order to perceiving the ‘self’. Through regular practicing of meditation, a greater level of will power can be achieved. Meditation does so by calming your soul and liberating it from all unpleasant tensions and stresses. Few equipments play key roles in achieving the goal more easily and smoothly. These powerful equipments, if incorporated in yoga session, can do wonder. Yoga mat is one of them. Yoga mats help the practitioner to get into the asanas more comfortably. These mats give the support to knees, hips, elbows, and at times act like cushions. The Yoga mats also provide a firm grip with their thick texture. Practicing yoga, in today’s perspective, is one of the most important as well as relevant task like having a phone number. If you do not have a phone number, you will find yourself lost and alone in this busy world. Likewise, we must connect with the cosmic energy to awaken the inner-self and consciousness. Yoga and meditation are just two path leading towards the same goal. Both yoga and meditation help an individual to discover his/her own tranquil inner self. Generally a person remains unaware of this tranquil sense which lies in an untapped manner within. Few forms of yoga like Kundalini yoga awaken and stimulate this untapped source of energy lying in the base of the spinal cord through some meditative disciplines. This powerful energy can change the course of life in a magical way. Relaxation Techniques for Panic Attacks

There are many relaxation techniques available to reduce the intensity and occurrence of Panic Attacks.  The following techniques are the most common:

• Meditation

• Visualization

• Deep breathing

• Sounds

Meditation can allow you to learn how to turn your focus of your thoughts from your Panic Attack symptoms to your breathing.  By concentrating on your breathing, you will be able to stop thinking about your Panic Attack, thus, giving you the chance to gain control of the situation and get yourself out of your Panic Attack.

Visualization is very similar to meditation.  Here you can use a recorded tape or your own imagination to describe a peaceful and pleasant place to be.  You will focus on this place and in your mind, be there.  This will then allow you to turn your focus from you Panic Attack symptoms to your peaceful place.  It will also lower your blood pressure, normalize your breathing, relax your muscles and make you feel relaxed.

Deep Breathing is one of the simplest things that you can do to relax yourself.  Here you will close your eyes and just concentrate on your breathing.  Breathing in slowly, holding it for a few seconds and then breathing out slowly.  After you have done this for a few minutes, you should feel relaxed and calm.

Sounds can be very relaxing.  You can turn on some soothing music, such as ocean waves, a fire crackling or classical lullaby.  Make yourself comfortable and just close your eyes and envision you are somewhere else.  For example, you are sitting on the beach in front of the ocean with the warm breeze softly blowing your hair and the sun slowly going down in the sky.  Think how peaceful this would make you feel.  Your thoughts will turn from your Panic Attack symptoms and just fade away.

All of these techniques are different, yet, they all have a similar goal of giving you skills to learn to relax yourself and face a Panic Attack without feeling overwhelmed or out of control.  Using these techniques along with other types of treatments can be a very effective combination for bringing relief and freedom from Panic Attacks that affect your life.

Meditation Exercises – the Best Way to an Empowered Mind?

To be successful in life, you need an empowered mind.

You can spend money on health supplements or any brain food that improve your brain and mind power, which may or may not be effective. However, the best way to an empowered mind need not cost you anything. It is free! It is achievable through meditation exercises.

Millions of people around the world have been practicing meditation, and have found meditation exercises to be an effective way to develop an empowered mind that is critical for achieving success in life. However, contrary to what it seems, mastering the skill can be a challenging task for most people. Many people who attempted meditation for the first time discovers just how hard it can be if the person’s mind is weak. The most critical tool you’ll need to master this important life skill is your mind. Just like any worthwhile skills, it requires regular practice, review and refinement to reap its best potential.

Regular practice of meditation exercises can develop an empowered mind in many ways, such as building patience, relaxation, observation, perception, concentration, and focus. Meditation can also help bring changes to your mind and body for the purpose of self-benefit, such as helping you to lose weight, quit smoking, reduce stress and depression, healing, overcome pain, regulate your body temperature, and much more.

Beyond the physical health benefits, meditation can even make you more receptive and sensitive to outside energy fields, improving your psychic intuition. Meditation is truly a miraculous skill. Unfortunately, most people failed to realize its powerful benefits due to incorrect way of practicing this exercise.

To most people, meditation is nothing more than sitting cross-legged on the floor quietly with eyes closed and began the breathing exercise. The key point to remember in performing the meditation exercises is to feel comfortable. It does not matter whether you are sitting on the floor, lying on the bed, or sit on a chair, as long as it does not get too comfortable to the extent that you may fall asleep.

Step 1: Control Your Breathing As A Concentration Exercise

The first step to learning meditation is to learn how to control your breathing. This may sound simple and feels boring at times, but the key here is to prepare your physical and mental state by bringing them to the state of deep relaxation. One thing to caution is not to control your breathing too consciously. As you move into the deep meditative state, you want to turn your focus from consciously breathing to deeply meditating.

Tools like soft music, candles, and incense can be used during meditation to increase its effect. However, using tools is not a must if you prefer a simple plain breathing control exercise to bring you into the meditative state. When using music, you must pick something pleasing to the ears but not powerful music like heavy metal or rock. Also, the key point to remember is to choose music that won’t distract you. You should choose music with only melody and not any lyrics. Incense is also helpful but takes some preparation on its own. Incense helps you relax, but do make sure that ventilation in the room is good. You don’t want to get throat irritation during meditation as a result of smoke building in the room.

Step 2: Relaxation

Relaxation is the challenging part of meditation that is often overlooked. Once you have assumed your chosen position, prepared your tools, and begun breathing, your goal now is to let your body relax completely. Every muscle in your body should be as relaxed as possible. The recommended way is to start at your feet and tense up your muscles as hard as possible for several seconds, and then release them. After your feet, move up to your legs, calf muscles, and then your thighs, hips, abs, chest, and arms. Eventually, you will reach your face and the top of your head. At the end of this process, your entire body will feel so relaxed that you lost the sense of your body weight. This process will feel lengthy when you first do it, but you will be able to find your rhythm after a few practices.

When you reached a state of deep relaxation in every part of your body, the real meditation begins.

Step 3: Use Different Meditation Exercises For Different Purpose

As you control your breathing and set your body into a state of total relaxation, you free yourself from any mental focus and clarity and your mind starts coming into clarity. At this point, you can choose to practice the following basic meditation exercises:

Meditation Exercise No. 1 -Build Mental Clarity:

The purpose of this exercise is to clear the mind. A clear mind is an empowered mind. The way to achieve this is to let your mind be still, and not think of anything. Sometime it is impossible not to think of anything because the mind chatters when send thoughts into your mind. When any thoughts come to your mind, don’t need to resist them, just know that they are there, without making any judgments. Remember not to continue to indulge in the thoughts, just stay conscious and observe them like a non-concerned 3rd-party. The thoughts will go away. By doing this, you’ll not let the thoughts cloud your clarity. As your mind achieves clarity, it builds will and concentration. You’ll find this to be one of the most relaxing exercises when you mastered the skill. The challenge you’ll face initially is to overcome the sense of boredom. Stay focus on you objective. It does take some mind discipline.

Meditation Exercise No. 2 -Create Visualization:

This exercise helps you build mental images much clearer without being interfered. The way to do this is by having a simple picture to focus in mind. It can be anything; a personal symbol, a religious symbol, a person, etc. At first, it is best to keep the image simple and easy to picture. As you progressed, move on to more complicated pictures. Make it as wide and clear as possible. After some practice, you can try giving it color. After that, animate it by making it rotate or move around. You can even visualize yourself touching the object with your hands and how it feels under your sense of touch. You will be very surprised to see how real it’ll begin to feel after you’ve had some practice. Remember to keep your mind on the task and not let it wander.

Make Daily Meditation Part of Your Self-Development Journey

Now you have grasped the idea of how meditation exercises can change your life and how to practice the basics. This exercise should be performed everyday if you are serious about seeing the results. The best time would be after you wake up in the morning, which allows you to prepare and empower your mind before starting the day. You can also do the meditation exercises before you go to bed at night, so as to enhance the quality of your sleep. Do remember, this wonderful skill don’t come easy. It takes a lot of dedication of time and effort before you see results. However, when the results begin to show, you’ll realize how much your life will be improved with this life skill.

Is Meditation for Relaxation Only?

Many people use meditation for relaxation, and it is easy to understand why. When you breath deep and calm your thoughts, stress is diminished. And this isn’t just a matter of feeling better at the moment. Many illnesses are caused by or made worse by too much stress. So even if it is never more than a relaxation technique, meditation is a very healthy practice.

But meditation certainly has higher purposes than relaxation alone. One of the most valuable things you can get from it isn’t temporary relief of stress, but a truer understanding of yourself. In fact, the self awareness that results can lead you to a whole new approach to life that is healthier in every way. Let’s look at how this can happen.

Here’s a simple experiment that you can do today, to see how limited your awareness may be. At some point when you are rushing around the house, or busy at work, stop and go outside for a short and slow walk. Look around as you walk, but say nothing, and try to ignore the thoughts going through your head. Stop at some point and sit quietly on a bench if possible.

What you may notice is that there are sounds, smells and activity everywhere that you were not aware of before you slowed down and quieted your mind. If you see a bird, don’t think “bird.” Just watch it. Allow yourself to hear the wind rustling the leaves without any mental commentary. For a moment don’t try to think about what any of this means or make it into some new “theory.” Just be silent and be aware. This is actually a kind of meditation itself.

Once you’ve done this and become aware of how much you normally miss, think about what is going on inside you. Then you can understand the possibilities such an quietly observant state has. All of the noise and activity that you see and hear outside you is also inside your mind. Sit in meditation and you start to see and hear that as well. Images, ideas, arguments, memories, dreams, demands and more.

The Promise Of Meditation

Meditate regularly and you learn how much incessant argument and explanation is going on just below the surface. Remain aware and you’ll see how this internal dialog pushes you this way and that. We are so mechanical in our reactions, even as we tell ourselves that we are free and in control. Seeing this as an observer of your own thoughts, you’ll feel less inclined to listen to the bad-advice from your own mind – you’ll open yourself up to better ways.

The more you get past this identification you have (we all do) with your own thoughts, the more you’ll begin to act intuitively and without so much conflict. Consider how you walk. You learned with great concentration, but now if you stopped to think about where to put each step you would probably fall. Similarly, many areas of life need less thought to stumble over, and more direct action which proceeds from what you see. Yes, there is an intelligence beyond words (though this in no way denigrates the power and usefulness of human language and thought).

Also, when you reach the point where your mind quiets even just a little, you begin to experience a self beyond thoughts. Normally, when you think of yourself you bring up a collection of  flattering and/or condemnatory images and ideas. But you are not what you think you are – you are something beyond those thoughts. And though you can say such a thing intellectually, even then you’re talking to yourself and experiencing a thought-self that is very limited.

Experiencing the reality of existence outside of your thoughts is something else entirely, and it helps you detach from the “created self” that gets us all into so much trouble. Metaphorically, we are asleep and under the spell of a mind that seeks to perpetuate itself without regard to our needs. This helps explain how after a lifetime of our own “lower self ” misleading us, we still listen to its advice. It helps us understand why we do bad things even though we say we “know better.” On some level we do know better – but we aren’t always thinking or acting from that level.

Meditation has the potential to help us wake up and see reality more directly. “Right action” then proceeds from what is seen, and thought becomes a tool subservient to our true interests, rather than having a life of its own at our expense. Meditation for relaxation, then, might be a nice start, but consider these higher purposes it can serve.
